Why so hostile?

My son went off to college this year. He is now, according to him, “on his own”. Yeah, right. Let’s see. We pay for his tuition, room and board, fees, room decorations, cell phone, insurance etc. etc. etc. For goodness sakes. For all the independence he believes he has, he doesn’t even buy his own toilet paper! So, you would think that maybe, just maybe, he would think to call his ol’ mom once in a while. Or, even text message me. 2 words. ‘I’m alive’ would suffice. Does he think that I WANT to have a long conversation with him? Uh, no. But, when I text him since Friday a couple of times and leave one voice mail with a question for him, it shouldn’t be too hard to text back a simple yes or no. I guess the good news in all of this is that he must not want anything. That is the only time he calls. Then, you guessed it……mad when I don’t answer right away. hah! Wonder how quickly my phone would ring if I turned his off! hmm Might be a good science experiment. And you wonder why I’m hostile…

4-Way Stop Signs. Is this hard?

In my travels, the first 5-7 miles are on rural roads with 4-way stop signs. Normally, there aren’t too many people driving so you zip on down the street, do your quick looksie and move on. No big deal. But lately, with my nice little rural area becoming more and more suburban, there are more cars that approach these stops. Didn’t we all learn in driver’s ed that the person on the right has the right of way if you both approach the intersection at the same time? And, that you each take turns going? And that there is no law on the books that says you have to wait until you see that I indeed am coming to a complete stop, even though you see me slowing way down, before you will go? That is the thing that drives me crazy!!!! You’re happily driving along and there is a stop sign. Ok, I slow down….a lot! Car B is at the intersection just watching me until I come to that complete stop. Then there are a few more seconds and they finally go. WTH! Do they NEED an invitation? This isnt’ that hard. For the love of God, go already! And they wonder why I’m hostile…..
